Very interesting Les Paul exhibit. We spent 2 hours reading everything. Lady at front desk was polite and seemed happy to have visitors stay as long as we did.

Absolutely charming. Great care has been taken to present historical items and ideas in a creative, engaging way. The Les Paul exhibit was very colorful and incredibly interesting. It was presented in a bright, colorful way that feels in line with many (larger) modern museums, the multimedia approach which presumably caters to younger people. So bring the kids! It’s not a huge overwhelming museum but there’s plenty to experience. I really like this balance.

County museums can be a mixed bag, but this one was quite delightful! Great exhibit on Les Paul, a Waukesha native, plus other interesting local highlights. Staff was friendly and helpful. We really enjoyed our visit!

Visiting from NC and went with our daughter to see the permanent Les Paul exhibit and really enjoyed the entire experience. Being a musician, the Les Paul exhibit alone was worth the visit with his early guitar inventions like “The Log” and early recording equipment on display. Well lit and with informative displays, the room is filled with items of interest from his early days through his 9 decades of life. The museum also has rooms and exhibits displaying history and relics of the area from the original inhabitants through the 1920s - dairy farming and agriculture, women’s fashion of the 1920s and a good exhibit at f US Army and Navy items from the Spanish American War of 1898 featuring uniforms, hats, accoutrements, letters and photos from local men who served in the war. The historical society and museum also houses the Huelsman Research Center & Archives which holds major primary sources of records pertaining to the history of the county, the people, and communities. Staffed by a friendly volunteer, entrance fee was $7 for adults and parking is on street. Clean restrooms and worth a visit!
