Things to Do in Slinger

Slinger Speedway is a paved quarter-mile oval at 280 Cedar Creek Road, billed as the world's fastest quarter-mile asphalt oval. It has run stock-car racing since the late 1940s, and Sunday night is race night through the season, roughly spring into fall. The card runs deep: Super Late Models are the headline division, alongside Late Models, Sportsman, Bees, Figure 8s and more. The marquee dates are the Slinger Nationals in July, one of short-track racing's best-known events, and the late-summer Slamfest. There's a grandstand, concessions, and a Kids Club, and several of the divisions are sponsored by local bars you can eat at before or after. Little Switzerland is a ski hill on Cedar Creek Road in Slinger, just off I-41 about 30 miles northwest of Milwaukee. It first opened in 1941 and was fully remodeled in 2012, so the base chalet is newer than the hill's age suggests, with a full-service restaurant, bar, game room and pro shop. There are 18 runs across both sides of the hill, served by a mix of chairlifts, rope tows and a handle tow, plus a big beginner area that makes it a common place to learn. Snowmaking and night skiing mean it runs through the winter regardless of natural snow. Freestylers get three terrain parks with rails, boxes and jumps; the back side holds the only real advanced run. Snow tubing is here too, which makes it an easy family outing even if not everyone skis. Note it's a winter operation now — the downhill bike park that once ran in summer closed in 2023.
