Best library ever.
FIrst of all, the building is incredible. Nooks for studying, reading, or hanging are everywhere. Great views combine with stunning architecture, soaring spaces, huge windows, sunny nooks, shaded screened balcony... If you like architecture, this library is worth visiting just for the building.
Second, the staff and leadership has worked on thinking of all demographics. There's a local history room, there's a toddler area, a teen-only lounge, a 'maker's space' with 3D printer and sewing/crafts.
There's a coffee cafe with excellent lattes and snacks.
There is an excellent collection for anything; DVDs, audio books, obviously nonfiction or fiction, large print, microfiche, music; even a 'library of things' with everything from tools to camping gear.
The online resources are incredible, where you can place a hold on stuff from dozens of affiliated local libraries and it just magically shows up here.
'Magical' is a good term to describe this awesome, beautiful place.
Show moreA great public library, with many access pass including Wisconsin historical museums pass, which I don’t see in other libraries nearby. Also the drawings on the wall are great and meaningful. The library is with 2 stories , and there are a lot of items can be borrowed, like the tools and the card board games! A very great library!
Show moreWhat a magnificent building this is! We went to an event here tonight — a local author talking about his book. We met in an attractive conference room that appeared to be expandable to a larger size. It worked out perfectly for our purposes, as the author read his scintillating stories and talked about what it’s like to be a writer.
Then we walked out into the library itself, and we were stunned. The architecture is soaring and modern, yet feels comfortable and accommodating at the same time. The two-story structure is encased in glass with an open and airy feeling, and there are so many thousands of books inside, it was almost overwhelming.
Another positive fact about this library: It’s open until 9 PM. That’s an hour later than our Germantown library, so I might be moseying down here to find a book or two someday soon. I would recommend you consider doing the same!
Show moreThis library is beautiful, very clean. They offer plenty of study space for all ages. The café is neat and the drinks are delicious. I would highly recommend taking a look.
